Criollax

Criollax

I wanted to do something related to music, since I know it’s a powerful force in many people’s lives. A guitar seemed like a good first choice, since it’s a popular instrument that all know and recognize. I was drawn to this one and I started painting it without giving it a second thought. But later I realized that this kind of guitar (the spanish guitar, in my country we call it “criolla” for creole) was the first guitar I had contact with, and later helped me create many songs and enjoy many unplugged jam sessions. See, the first half of my life was about music. I was a singer, but songwriter as well, and I got a criolla from my mom, that really belonged to my uncle years before. So I started a painting thinking about what others would like and after the fact remembered so many things about my own life and what was important to me.
It’s not the first time something like this happens, therefore painting is also a tool to know yourself more, or discover things about you, or bring to the foreground things that you had buried inside you.
Did you have experiences like this?
